Bio
I grew up in a big middle-class family. Our lives revolved around practicalities, mundane matters in traditional roles. For me, it was around the time that I graduated from high school and entered university that I began having a yearning to become a painter as a way to express my rebellion against constraint-based living through breaking fundamental rule in composition, distorted figures and jarring colors. But life necessitated that I pick a major and career that pleased my parents, and where I was not always in survival mode. After graduating from UCLA and later USC, I worked in technology industry for over 25 years, till I finally got the opportunity to listen to my dreaming heart. I studied various modern art genres and movements and became infatuated with German Expressionism for its alignment with my form of expression, and with such avant-garde painters as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, August Mack, Gabriel Münter, et. al. I am self-taught and have been working on both representational and non-representational forms since 2017.
While I have produced many works, the collection that is represented in this online gallery has been curated by myself of those works that I find with best narratives. They are those that have received positive reviews from my current clients for whom I have produced commissioned work.
